The Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island, Lagos, was ablaze with infectious energy and unbridled excitement on Saturday, August 8th, 2015, at the unveiling of the Dance with Peter reality show.
Globacom will be giving away N6m, and three cars to winners of the show.
The winner of the competition will get a cash prize of N3m, a Toyota Rav 4, and a spot in P-Square’s next music video.
The second runner-up will N2m, a Honda Civic, and a spot in a Glo ambassador’s music video, while the third place will be get N1m, a Kia Rio, and a spot in a Glo ambassador’s music video.
Auditions for the show will be held in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Benin and Abuja as well as in Accra, Ghana.
Six dancers will be selected by the judges from each location for the real battle in Lagos.
At the unveiling were Peter, one of the P-Square twin, dance queen, Kaffy; P-Squares’ choreographer, Nonso aka Don Flex and MTV Base’s Video Jockey (VJ), Ehis Okoegule.
According to Peter, he developed the idea five years ago, and it was borne out of the fact that there was a dearth of dance shows on TV.
The event witnessed performances from various dance crews such as Hillary Jackson’s dance crew, winner of the 2013 Glo X-Factor, DJ Switch, and Beat 99.9 FM’s Jimmie.
Peter also feeling very generous gave out N100,000 each to two groups of dancers who slugged it out in an impromptu dance competition.
Dance with Peter will run for 13 weeks; the first two weeks will be on profiling and auditions, while the next 10 weeks would be for the elimination series.
The grand finale will be in Lagos with international superstars.
The show will be broadcast on Africa Magic, AIT in Nigeria, TV3 in Ghana and ORTV in Benin Republic.
Registration for the competition has started and it is open to only Glo Subscribers in Nigeria and Ghana. Registration costs N100 for Nigeria and 0.5GHc for Ghana. Subscribers are required to send ‘DANCE’ to the short code 55517 in Nigeria and 3030 in Ghana. They will then be requested to send their details such as Name and Location at no extra charge. All successful registrations will get a confirmatory SMS with instructions on what to do next.
